Rio Frio to Kerrville TX
Thursday April 7th
A common site today, many properties advertise private hunting. I look inside most of the fences that we pass but haven't seen any exotic animals lounging around.
Today we rode along the Guadalupe River as we approach Kerrville. Most riverside properties have created dams where the river passes thru their land. So they have their own swimming holes etc.
Posing at The Boot Fence, this went on for a couple hundred yards on both sides of the highway.
Entering Kerrville along the riverfront bike path. Today was an interesting biking day. Started out chilly, climbing into a head wind, then turned East and the crosswinds were only obnoxious, delaying us somewhat, then finally we followed the gentle slope of the river right to our nightly stop at a city park with camping next to the river. Todays statistics, 71 miles, average speed 12.1, ascended 2,490 feet and burned 3,152 calories. And this was the half way point of our coast to coast ride, but it didn’t seem special, maybe we just need to see Texas in our rearview mirrors?
